I discovered Basque food a couple years and have been addicted ever since. It’s simple, yet scrumptious. The novelty of sitting at the same table as complete strangers and becoming friends over conservation and food makes the claim, ”family restaurant” even more fitting.
Carson Valley has three incredible places: Overland Restaurant, Carson Valley Country Club, and JT Basque Bar & Dining Room, I recommend checking them all out, but I’ll share my experience at JT’s.
JT’s has the best fries on the planet… I always try to save room for an additional helping to dip into the flavorful baked beans – yum! The lamb chops are juicy and fall off the bone nicely. And the variety of soups are scrumptious, definitely ask for seconds.
Wash it all down with a Picon Punch…
JT’s has a tradition to pin a dollar bill to the ceiling 14-feet above. I wonder how much money is up there. And how do they do it? (A paper dollar is folded around a silver dollar; a push pin poking through on one side and it’s tossed flush to the ceiling. Down come the silver dollar and up stays the paper. Dollars cover the ceiling. How much money is up there, anyway?
