Dining out in Carson City & Carson Valley - The perfect end to any Nevada Golf Outing

When you golf Lake Tahoe by playing 18 holes of golf at any of the Divine 9 golf courses, you can really work up an appetite or a thirst. Luckily, Carson City and Carson Valley, Nevada have plenty of options to whet your whistle, celebrate an ace and delight your taste buds.

Each of the Divine 9 golf courses have an assortment of restaurants and dining options to choose from. Whether you're looking for a quick bite prior to a golf round or an intimate fireside dinner, the Carson Valley area has the restaurant for you.

Mallards Restaurant at Empire Ranch in Carson City, serves breakfast all day; and lunch as well. There's also a sports bar to keep fans up-to-date on all the scores. The Alpine Room at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort offers lunches at the Resort Course and Antoci's Supper Club for lunch and dinner at the Lakes Course. Antoci's features Italian cuisine by a locally renowned chef with entertainment by live piano Fridays and Saturdays.

To gear up for a round of Lake Tahoe golf, the Cracker Box is the local diner serving breakfast and lunch in a location not much bigger than a cracker box. Sugarplum Bakery & Treats has fresh baked goods, coffee and specialty breakfast items. Other hot spots include the eclectic Comma Coffee, where Democratic Presidential candidates canvassed in Carson City, Grandma Hattie's and City Café Bakery.

Casual dining spots from barbecue to Mexican and somewhere in between abound in the region. Red's Old 395 Grill combines the culinary creations of executive chef Jose Rivera with a collection of relics hanging from the ceiling: farm equipment, carts, giant wheels, etc.

The Carson Valley Country Club Restaurant serves Basque family-style meals and the famous Picon Punch. At J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room, the long-time local clientele adds to the atmosphere along with the hundreds of dollars tacked to the high ceiling. Traditional Basque includes four-course dinners. In the mood for Mexican, a variety of family-owned joints have guests covered. In Carson Valley, Rosy's Mexican Restaurant has authentic, piping hot dishes at economical prices. Francisco's has some of the best salsa in the region and a friendly, attentive staff. San Marcos Grill's killer tableside guacamole combines with comfortable ambiance and a menu of nothing but authentic Mexican meals. If you like it hot – and spicy, this is it. Try the Santa Fe fajitas and es speciales de la casa.

After a long round, the Genoa Bar and Saloon, Nevada's first thirst parlor, has history and stiff drinks, along with Raquel Welch's bra. The Firkin & Fox, located in the historic St. Charles Hotel, is a traditional English-style pub with bar fare that regularly features live music outside near the fire pit.

For a more intimate setting, the area has its share of fine dining. The Basil features creative Thai cuisine served with an impressive flourish. Daily specials continually add variety to the menu. Next door, Garibaldi's serves Italian in a quiet, intimate setting. Choosing wine is a personal experience, guests venture into the "cellar" to choose their own bottle for the meal with wines also available by the glass.

Marcello's Bar & Ristorante has daily gourmet specials and a pleasant staff. Fiona's Bar & Grill, inside the Carson Valley Inn, specializes in steaks, chops and seafood. Originally the Pink House for an ostentatious but recognizable exterior, La Ferme serves creative country-style French cuisine with every item homemade. DW's Restaurant at David Walley's Resort, Hot Spring and Spa has a California-centric wine list paired with a hearty American menu. The Barone & Reed Food Company, located in historic Minden, has an inviting atmosphere that welcomes groups or intimate gatherings. Adele's is considered Carson City's best fine dining experience. Leave the menu on the table and listen to the server provide more than 30 specials without a note. If one of those doesn't spark your interest, you probably weren't listening close enough.
